We’re combining forces to present live and digital roots artists that have been making waves and making people dance from East to West Coast and beyond. Futuristic folklore to dance to.
From Los Angeles:
With roots in Argentina, Rafi eL is armed with charango, smart Spanglish lyrics and shimmering songs (hailed by Chicago Reader, Remezcla). Joined by Ethio jazz and Garifuna-influenced Buyepongo : funky cumbia meets Afro-Caribbean folk music (Wax Poetics).
Representing from #NYC:
Acclaimed Global Bass producer Atropolis and up and coming lyricist/beatmaker MPeach (SXSW ’15), bringing Caribbean sass and worldly swagger. Topped by local taste maker on the decks Dj Ripley who’ll have kicked off BK-based Dutty Artz label’s monthly radio show the night before!
And finally, out of Chicago!
DJ Sound Culture representing Future Rootz Radio on 89.3 FM, resident DJ at the best tropical bass party in Chicago CumbiaSazo, and co-founding member of Global Club Music Network international.
All the action is going down at Merdian 23 in Manhattan. Come help us kick off what we anticipate to be a big year!
