MATT SHADETEK – THE EMPIRE NEVER ENDED (Out March 26th)
Dutty Artz is immensely proud to announce the new album from Matt Shadetek The Empire Never Ended, his second solo effort.  The album will be out March 26th 2013 via Dutty Artz.  The record is a mix of instrumental and vocal tracks which fuse Shadetek’s love for new sounds with the street knock of Rap and R&B.  Guesting on the record are Riff Raff, Troy Ave, Chan Dizzy, Aku Orraca Teteh and Jahdan Blakkamoore.  “After I moved back to NYC after living in Berlin I wanted to make something more local” Shadetek says “I grew up on rap music but there was a moment where things just got really boring and my interest went elsewhere. Lately things are getting interesting again.”  You can listen to Madness from The Empire Never Ended over at Pitchfork.

MATT SHADETEK – La Vida Loca feat. Troy Ave
I’ve been keeping this under my hat for a while so it’s a great pleasure to finally announce the first single for my new album: La Vida Loca feat. Troy Ave. It’s quite a departure from stuff of the last stuff you may have heard me do, I’ve been returning to my hiphop roots and incorporating some of the crazy southern rap sounds that are in the air. I linked up with Troy Ave to do this after hearing him on Mr. Motherfuckin Exquire’s mixtape and being impressed by his flow and panache. I’m really happy with how the song came out and hope you will enjoy it too.
Old Money & Lamin Fofana “Ethiopia” b/w “NÄga” – new single out now!
Okaypayer writes:
Brooklyn-based producers Old Money and Lamin Fofana continue their collaboration with Ethiopia/NÄga, the first in a series of three joint releases. The duo themselves describe the audio experience as “an examination of mysteries as articulated through fresh and distinct African Caribbean lenses†— which is dead on. These journeys, which I refuse to just call tracks, sound like solutions of different colored inks. “Ethiopia†is a nostalgia-inducing fusion of Afro-Caribbean drumming, electronic melody, and a Gregorian-type bass. It flows into “NÄga,†which feels like Chicago/London house music meets a Naeto C flow from “10 Over 10.â€Â Buy the release, out now on Dutty Artz, and stream it below.

JAHDAN & ROBZILLA ON DUTTY ARTZ
Members of the Dutty Artz tribe are long familiar with Jahdan Blakkamoore through his work with myself and DJ /Rupture over the years. Â For his new single World Keeps Spinning he’s teamed up with new Manhattan based producer Robzilla, making his production debut. Â I’d been hearing Rob’s music for a minute and when he asked me to introduce him to Jahdan I thought that they would sound great together. The results are here, including a remix by yours truly and one from London funky sensation Footsteps. Â You can get the release on iTunes and where all fine digital music is sold.

The impact which created the Caloris Basin was so powerful that its effects are seen on a global scale. It caused lava eruptions and left a concentric ring over 2 km tall surrounding the impact crater. At the antipode of the Caloris Basin lies a large region of unusual, hilly and furrowed terrain, sometimes called “Weird Terrainâ€.

I was quiet for most of 2011 when it comes to releasing original music. To be honest, I was a bit hard on myself. I’m finally getting out of that muck, and feeling ready now. I’m planning to put out several releases this year, on Dutty Artz as well as branching out to other labels.
Please find details for my first release of 2012 below. Titled Dubious Prey, it comes out on limited vinyl January 30th, then a digital release with additional remixes shortly follows. London label Sticks N Stones is releasing it… SNS a small new label owned and operated by my friend Aramac, and distributed by ST Holdings. Yesterday, XLR8R premiered the first cut from Dubious Prey, “Brokedown City”
NYC-via-Sierra Leone DJ/producer and Dutty Artz affiliate Lamin Fofana is set to release a new EP, Dubious Prey, the follow-up to his 2010 debut EP, What Elijah Said. The new EP features two originals, including this one, “Brokedown City,” a dark but still active piece of techno with a steady four-on-the-floor. The song’s notably tropical percussion is buffeted by potent synth lines, which bleed in and out of the song, and a barely audible vocal sample that occasionally slips into the mix…

Korak EP
I’m not sure if they’re referring to the son of Tarzan, town in Nepal, or the language from Papua New Guinea, but we’re proud to announce DA013 the Korak EP from Contakt & Mayster. The duo are behind TURRBOTAX®, Brooklyn’s own XLR8R sponsored “un-pretentious yet forward thinking and adventurous” club night at The Cove, now turning two years old.
On “Korak” tropical percussion, 808 cowbells and an assortment of clicks and pops whir and collide around a throbbing, syncopated bass line. DA’s own Matt Shadetek provides a NYC 3Ball rework with nuff bass to rattle windows and rib cages. The b-side “Opar” is a study in tension and release with a more classic 4×4 house beat while Contakt & Mayster create a soundscape with reversed cymbals and filtered percussion. Doc Daneeka comes through with a UK Funky remix.
