Tomorrow night, Thursday October 12th– Dutty Artz is joining forces with Fania for a benefit at Kinfolk 94 (94 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn) to support disaster recovery efforts in Puerto Rico and Mexico. All proceeds from the event will go directly to local relief efforts, with the event featuring live performances by Papi Juice co-founder and DJ Oscar Nñ, DJ Bembona, and Uproot Andy.
Talacha’s Frecuencia Sin Frontera signals a new point in the evolution of the inherently transnational cumbia genre. In the newest iteration of cumbia, it makes its way from Toy Selecta’s hip-hop insipred reworkings to crunk cumbia and now to a new corner of the DIY, Soundcloud-fueled underground with wepa, in all of its embracing of low-end, lo-fi grittiness.

On May 27th, Raymondstock and Riobamba’s new events/booking platform APOCALIPSIS present LIMBO, a two-floor #reggaetónrave that’s a signal boost to radical futures in Latinx urbano soundscapes. Hosted at Trans-Pecos, LIMBO welcomes the New York City debut of Chilena reina emcee Tomasa del Real.
